Due to the expansion of the role of the Grocery Service Centre (GSC) within the ABF UK Grocery division, a new role has been created to help ensure the highest standards of compliance and assurance are achieved and maintained.

The Compliance and Assurance Manager, a member of the GSC management team, will lead our drive to meet all internal and external compliance requirements.  Ranging from supporting internal audits, completing self-certification statements across a number of functions to assurance reviews with HMRC and the development of ESG reporting and UK SOX preparation, this will be a key role giving confidence to Senior Management across the Group.

The role will liaise directly with internal and external stakeholders as well as various internal departments that own financial processes and controls across the division.

This is a key position with access to senior members of the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to take the lead in creating the GSC Compliance & Assurance roadmap, and to help us ensure that providing compliance and assurance becomes a cornerstone of our offering to our businesses.

We will look to you to ensure that the GSC complies with internal regulations and established control protocol and to work collaboratively with GSC management teams to design, implement and evidence necessary controls and assurance.  As the subject matter expert you will offer professional judgement and advice to colleagues on ways of improving business processes and controls as well as completing core tasks to ensure cross-functional controls are in place.

​​​​​​​Candidates should hold a professional Accounting qualification with proven experience working in a controls-related environment (for example, audit background).  Experience of a SOX environment would be advantageous.

Technically proficient you should have the experience and ability to analyse system outputs to support controls requirements requiring a strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. As this is a stand alone role, you should be strong self starter, comfortable working solo where required but happy to to engage with a wide-range of team members.
