Our Shared Service Centre, based out of Liverpool, provides service activities across Payroll, HR, Customer Services, Accounting and Transactional Processing for a number of well known organisations all of whom sit under the Associated British Foods Plc umbrella.  The brands of these organisations are well known and include Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon to name a few.

Our IS team provides Application Support and Development for 4 of these organisations with a view to increase in both volume and scope in the future and we are looking to increase our team and ensure availability of skills required for the future by investing in two Apprenticeship opportunities.

The “IS Technical Apprentice” role is aimed at creating a team member that is a multi skilled, cross platform, customer focused, mixed support / development analyst, that will allow us to develop skills for the future IS environment and support existing IS services.  The role will encompass 3 main development paths:

1.The Software Technician apprentice scheme itself

2.Internal technical training comprising of one or more of the following, DBA, Developer, Report Writer

3.Internal training on existing and new skills and services e.g. Dynamics 365, Success Factors

This is a “Hands On” role.  The apprentice will pick up tickets and resolve them and assist others in doing so after an appropriate time of learning.  They must establish a working philosophy where support is their priority and stability of services is key to their success

Working with security teams to ensure patching and anti-virus updates are carried out promptly and effectively.  Also ensure that application patching is documented, scheduled and monitored 

Undertake site visits (as appropriate) for various reasons, including  resolution of persistent or high impact problems,  business meetings etc.

We are looking for someone who is educated to at least GCSE or equivalent standard with grades A-C and who has the ability to demonstrate skills in dealing with people at all levels.  A keen interest in IT is a must and it would be beneficial if you have a good understanding of infrastructure principles.

A strong and confidence communicator, both written and verbal you will be able to work independently whilst managing and prioritising your own workload.  Reliable and flexible team player able to engage others in a support and back up role, we would look to you to have an approachable outlook, willingness to learn and a solid commitment to achieving a full apprenticeship.
