To work as part of a self-organizing departmental team, and supply engineering support to the whole site.  Flexibility of skills is essential to ensure that the main areas within the site operations, packaging, Distribution, utilities and building services are maintained to maximize our assets. The role requires that continuous improvement is actively pursued to achieve World Class standards in Asset Care, and H&S is at the heart of everything we do.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • To work within all necessary EH&S legislation (e.g. LOLER, PUWER, PAT testing, Electricity @ works regulations, COSHH, PTW etc.)  and to proactively contribute to raising the standards across Speedibake. Additionally, be fully conversant with company safe systems of work, operating within agreed safe working practices in line with statutory and company requirements;
  • To commit to all college studies, training center activities & any other factory-based training required to achieve the agreed engineering job position in the required timescales. 
  • Proactively manage own time, including prioritization of workload in order to fulfill both factory-based commitments and educational requirements to achieve expected academic grades.
  • Work closely with engineering personnel to maximize learning exposure, experience hand-over, team working ethics & good understanding of the manufacturing process.
  • To assist engineers in any breakdowns or emergencies that may arise with a bias to action approach & a ‘100-year fix’ mentality.
  • Identification of CI opportunities.
  • A totally flexible approach, to be available to cover any shift as part of current or any future rotational cover system. This includes weekend work, cover for shortages on shift etc.
  • Collate and record accurate records each day, to include: - Shift activities, CMMS activities, educational evidence & learning aid proforma’s.
  • Area of accountability includes, but not limited to: Production, packaging, distribution, services, facilities, Offices & external areas
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties that will be required by the company from time to time
  • To comply with good manufacturing practices and the Food Safety Act 1990.
  • To comply with stores withdrawal procedures, to ensure tight cost controls.

Experience and Qualifications     

 

Essential technical requirements for job at a competent level of performance

  • Excellent educational reports and qualifications
  • HNC/HND in electrical or mechanical engineering - desirable
  • 3 years post apprenticeship training - essential
  • FMCG experience an added advantage – essential
  • Previous supervisory experience an added advantage – desirable
  • Plant knowledge and customer service approach experience – essential
  • Flexible and adaptable to business demands – essential
  • Evidence of a leaning towards engineering & technology interests.
  • Systems literate - PC, Office suite.

Desirable technical requirements for job at a competent level of performance

  • Evidence of work experience which is relevant to engineering, manufacturing or technology.

N.B.  Environment:  Those working within the factory are necessarily exposed to some dust from flour and mixes in certain areas.  Whilst face masks are available where appropriate, any person suffering from chest or lung-related problems, will be required to complete regular Lung Function tests, in compliance with their duty of care as employers specified in the Health & Safety At Work Act.
