Your experience:


You will be a motivational and hands-on manager with a strong food production track record plus preferably have experience of working in an industrial bakery environment. You will have solid team leading skills, be able to identify areas of improvement plus ideally be qualified in Food Safety, Food Hygiene and Health & Safety. The ability to work independently is essential, you will have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to resolve and troubleshoot issues independently. In addition, excellent team working skills are essential; you will have the ability to lead, motivate and work in harmony with both the production the wider site teams


Key Accountabilities:


  • Maintain factory performance systems to explain all variances and mitigation actions in detail
    • Examples include compliance to QAS, GMP, health and safety, KPI boards, line efficiency, yields, waste, give-away and downtime
  • Review the forward production plans to ensure all resources (plant, labour, materials and packaging) are in place to optimise and deliver the production plan
  • Control the yield and usage of all components to ensure standard weights / quantities are achieved at all stages of the process
  • Control all downtime to a minimum where issues are acted upon immediately and incidents of more than 60 mins are reported to the General Manager
  • Provide information of issues to the General Manager at or after the daily production meetings to ensure that all opportunities for improvement are captured and implemented
  • Conduct effective handover to the incoming shift by walking the factory floor and reviewing the issues
  • Ensure all safety related incidents are fully investigated and actions implemented to prevent a reoccurrence
  • Ensure that all hours worked by staff is captured and reported accurately, drive all aspects of accuracy throughout all factory areas


What you will need for the role / what it will take


  • At least 5 years experience within the food industry with an impressive track record
  • Relevant food manufacturing qualifications, including basic food hygiene and health & safety training
  • Experience with HACCP, allergens, food processing systems and BRC Food standards / Lean Manufacturing techniques desired
  • Proven people and change management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and exceptional organisational skills
  • Ability to demonstrate CI activities previously carried out
  • Strong IT skills as well as analytical and problem solving skills
