This is a highly active and participative role within the most time critical department in our bakery.  This is a pivotal role taking in raw materials; putting them away using a fork-lift truck and supplying and preparing the ingredients into the plant direct to the bread production lines.  This role reports into the Planning Co-Ordinator.

The key tasks of the role include:

  • To maintain an adequate supply of packaging materials to the departments to meet production needs and to cover raw ingredients stores for production.

  • To ensure the best possible hygiene standards are achieved by managing the department in a safe and cost effective manner in line with company standards and legislative requirements.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and drive H&S performance delivering on all business KPI’s

  • Represent the department at the Health & Safety Meeting

  • Adhere to all technical/quality  procedures in line with BRC and customer standards

  • No NCR’s in audits

  • Traceability audits

  • File and obtain when necessary certificates of conformity from suppliers.

    Other Tasks:

  • Liaise with suppliers and other sites to prevent ingredient and packaging stock outs

  • Receiving of bulk and palletised ingredients and recording into ingredients management system.

  • Produce in conjunction with accounts, a weekly stock summary as per Company procedures.

  • Raise orders for raw materials and packaging

  • Assistance in management of ingredient prep to ensure all ingredients are weighed up and supplied with no outages in manufacturing

  • Assist in the practical training new staff

  • Communicate through handover emails at the end of their 4 on – 4 off shift pattern

  • Accidents/hazards/walk and talks/risk assessment completion etc

  • Customer audit scores and internal audits

  • Weekly MUV

  • Stock accuracy

  • Stock outs and manufacturing stock outs (weighed up ingredients)

  • Safety and food safety focussed

  • Demonstrable problem solving

  • Ability to build relationships ( e.g. with suppliers and manufacturing).
