Allied Mills is a great Company to work for and we now have an exciting opportunity for a Packing Line Technician to join us, working as part of the packing an despatch team based at our flour mill based in the Port of Tilbury.
As part of a small team of packing technicians you will work on a 5 week rotating roster to cover a 24/7 packing and despatching operation. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working in the food packing industry and have gained experience setting up and running an automated packing line. To succeed in this position you should be able to demonstrate your ability or potential in the following areas:
Self-motivation with the ability to achieve department goals as a member of the packing team
Working unsupervised and on your own initiative while considering personal safety and food safety
Interpreting and apply written and verbal instructions effectively with good attention to detail
Maintaining high standards for quality, health & safety and housekeeping.
Participating in continual learning and take every opportunity to advance job knowledge
Good IT/PC skills with email, spreadsheet and experience of warehouse based software (SAP for example)
Flexible approach to working hours and work duties in line with efficient operation and company goals
Carry out routine maintenance and apply first fix to breakdown situations (training will be provided)
Whilst an FLT licence is required for this position, it is not essential that you hold a licence in order to apply. Previous packing skills are more important as full FLT training can be provided
Good understanding of English both verbally and in writing and the ability to understand numeric information (for example packing quantities)
Basic Food Hygiene desirable (training can be provided)
Good mechanical aptitude and hand tool skills
Whilst these practical skills and experience are important to succeed in the role, the key attribute we look for is the ability to apply yourself to a job of work, whilst learning to develop your ability. Training can be provided for most areas, although previous experience of operating a packaging or production line / working in a similar work environment would be an advantage. The ability to be an effective team member and think on your feet is also desirable, to enable you to react to any non-routine situations and apply a common sense approach to resolving any problems.
