We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented individual to join Allied Bakeries Cardiff as a sponsored Apprentice in our Vehicle Maintenance Unit. We have our own well-equipped workshop and team of professional individuals who maintain and repair our own fleet of LGV`s and Fork Lift Trucks.

The Apprenticeship Term

4 years – day release basis

Your Apprenticeship with Allied Bakeries Cardiff

You will be based at our Bakery Site in Cardiff working as a member of the team responsible for the maintenance and repair of all aspects of our LGV vehicles and Fork Lift Trucks. Working with an assigned mentor and alongside our own Technicians, you will gain the knowledge and hands on experience you need to become a qualified LGV Technician.
College training will be provided by Cardiff and Vale College, Cardiff. The course is run on a weekly day release basis for the first 3 years with the final year in the VMU at Cardiff.
In conjunction with your Workshop and College training, we will provide all the relative Company, Product and Safety training you need to meet our policies and procedures.  In addition, we will also provide in house training to obtain your LGV and FLT driving licences when you become eligible to apply for them.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self - motivated and a conscientious individual who has the ambition and willingness to learn and develop their own skills. You will also need to be reliable, honest, and punctual and have a flexible approach to work whilst also being a strong team player.
The ideal candidate will require minimum of grade C in 5 GCSE subjects including Maths, English, and will also have to pass the company`s entry assessment criteria


Starting Salary is £13,447 per annum plus excellent benefits. Should you meet the required development standards for your qualification, your salary will increase each year.

Hours of Work

During your Apprenticeship, you will work 9am to 5pm As your training progresses your shift patterns will change in line with departmental and business requirements.
