To undertake various activities within the laboratory contributing to the success of the Cereals, Milling & Baking Science Team and of ATC as a whole. The main functions of the job will be:
(1) Cereal and Baked product analysis as required and additional duties as required to fulfil the requirements and demands of the laboratory.
(2) Reporting of test results to ATC stakeholders and customers.
The role will involve working as part of the laboratory team, being responsible for delivering all work to agreed business deadlines. The role also includes being part of a weekend rota for shelf life testing, which typically would be for one day for two hours every 2-3 weeks.
•Maintain a good working relationship with the Laboratory team as well as other ATC colleagues, which is especially important for sample administration
•Ensure analysis is carried out correctly, according to the method and is technically valid
•Excellent record taking for traceability as well as full filling the BMS and UKAS criteria
•Carry out work in order of priority and meets customer deadlines
•Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Experience & Qualifications
•A level qualifications or degree in science or equivalent and experience gained in a food or related environment.
•A proven track record within a laboratory environment.
•Excellent IT skills, key for sample test result administration.
•A good understanding of Laboratory H & S issues
•Ability to work as part of a team.
•Willingness to learn laboratory methods and follow set procedures.
•Good written and verbal communication skills.
•Attention to detail.
•Ability to show a well organised approach to work
